Post-Production Operations Manager

- BBC Scotland

I graduated from Queen Margaret College in 1993 with a Diploma in Drama (Stage Management) and soon began a freelance career working in TV.Ìý

My first job was as a Floor Assistant with BBC Scotland working on the 1990’s quiz show 'Catchword', hosted by Paul Coia. This led to a longer contract with BBC Scotland where I worked on a range of studio shows from their Headquarters in Glasgow.

I then spent a few years bouncing between the BBC and STV working as an Assistant Floor Manager/ 2nd Assistant Director on programmes like 'High Road', 'Rab C Nesbitt', and 'Fully Booked'. I also spent a short spell at Granada TV in Manchester working on 'Coronation Street' and the pilot episode of 'Cold Feet', which when I look back was great fun!

By 1998 I was working as a Location Manager and Production Manager on shows like 'Chewin’ the Fat' and 'Live & Kicking'.Ìý

I then joined the pre-school team responsible for producing content for the newly launched CBeebies channel where I worked on the production of the BAFTA award-winning series 'Balamory'. I production managed 124 episodes of this much loved pre-school series before going onto be the Producer for a further 124 episodes. It was here that I met my friend and colleague, Brian Jameson and in 2005 we founded our independent TV production company Tattiemoon.

Tattiemoon specialises in the production of pre-school television programming and in the creation of innovative, high quality and entertaining story telling. We are responsible for other CBeebies titles including 'Me Too!' with Granny Murray (starring Jane McCarry, another QMU graduate) and 'Woolly & Tig', a live action/animation programme. Over the years we have developed content for other broadcasters including YouTube Originals.

In 2014, I returned to BBC Scotland as their Post Production Operations Manager where I continue to head up the Post Production department looking after a team of 40+ craft, technical and support staff providing post-production and broadcast services to BBC Scotland and the independent community.
